Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater

This elegant theatre was created as a result of a merger between the Stanislavskii Opera Theatre and Nemirovich- Danchenko Musical Theatre in 1940.

It has established a reputation for itself and is a popular venue. The theatre's production of 'Swan Lake' is said to be the best in Moscow.

The new theatre followed the artistic principles of its founders, who applied the system of the Moscow Art Theatre to opera and ballet.

Both Stanislavsky and Nemirovich- Danchenko rejected the current conception of opera. They wanted to bring it closer to drama and comedy, revealing the main idea of the plot through psychologically motivated action. However, their approach to the genre was slightly different.

Since 1995 Mr. Urin has been General Director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich- Danchenko Moscow academic Music Theater. The project of the cardinal reconstruction of the Theater building has been worked out and is being realized under his direct guidance.
