A unique type of festival, Moscow Disability Film Festival, is held here depicting the life of those less favored by fortune.

The film festival was organized by ‘Perspektiva,' a Russian non- governmental organization that for over a decade has provided support to help people with disabilities live full and fulfilling lives.

The festival showcased 112 films which featured documentaries, public service announcements and animation. There were comedies, love stories, humor, joy, triumph and inspiration. All the movies depict the feelings and expressions of special people among whom are the blind, deaf or even the lame.

The films from 16 countries, including Russia, the US, Canada, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, France, Hungary and India, competed for 14 awards. The festival awards were selected by a distinguished jury of Russian filmmakers and critics, chaired by the documentary filmmaker Sergei Govorukhin.

The festival was also well covered by the media. It was solicited during the 4 day event: 15 broadcasts appeared on local and national TV, 12 newspaper articles, 3 radio pieces and 5 internet spots.
